Pete Hayes is the President of Mesa Pilot Development. He came to Mesa in 1998 after an outstanding 28-year career in the United States Air Force and retiring at the rank of Brigadier General in 1990. Mr. Hayes spent eight years at Boeing Co., where he developed expertise in the management of developing derivative aircraft, including the 767-300 freighter, the 747-500/600 stretch and the 767-400ERX. He began his career at Mesa in December 1998 when he was named Director of Training. Mr. Hayes moved to pilot development in January 2000, where he remains responsible for running and growing the pilot development program. He is credited with doubling the size of the program, has developed a new outreach-training program with Arizona State University and oversees all pilot recruitment for the company.
