Flight Attendant Requirements

Personal Requirements

  • At least 20 years old

  • High school diploma or GED is required; college credits OR a minimum of two years of customer service experience preferred

  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality and dependability

  • Read, write, and speak English fluently

  • Upon completion of training, willing to be assigned to any of Mesa Airlines crew bases (may involve relocation or commuting)

  • Willing and able to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours

 Physical Requirements

  • You must be able to reach into overhead bins and galley compartments to retrieve emergency equipment

  • Ability to perform all safety-related procedures, including the ability to operate aircraft doors, assist with carry-on baggage stowage, and operate meal & beverage carts

  • Willing to comply with uniform and appearance guidelines, including tattoos and piercings. Visible tattoos are permitted with limitations according to size and location on the body. Tattoos not compliant must be covered by uniform pieces or tattoo coverage makeup. Single-stud nose piercings are allowed, as well as two piercings per ear. Gauges and other facial, mouth, or tongue piercings are not permitted.  ear piercings.  Extreme hairstyles or colors are not permitted.

  • Ability to sit in the flight attendant jumpseat without modification; walk comfortably down the aisle facing forward and fit quickly through the overwing exits.

  • Must have the endurance needed to work up to 16 hours per day with frequent changes in climate and weather conditions

 Legal Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Possess a current, valid US or foreign passport

  • Have the legal ability to travel unrestricted to/from all countries that are served by Mesa Airlines, including Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas & Cuba

  • Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprinting and criminal history

  • Pass a DOT/FAA pre-employment drug, alcohol, and random screening throughout your employment which includes screening for marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP, and amphetamine.  Please be aware that medical marijuana is prohibited by the DOT for safety-sensitive employees
